Discovery Point Teachers Volunteer in Costa Rica

We are always so pleased to hear about the great volunteer work our teachers are doing – at home and abroad. This May, Andy and Julie Nyikos from Discovery Point #39 in Odessa, FL traveled to Costa Rica, where they planted trees and shared their love of learning with the boys and girls at a local school. The fourteen students from the K-8 school live in an impoverished area, and Julie and Andy were touched by their gratitude, warmth, and excitement. All leftover supplies, including towels, shirts, food, coolers, and even $1,000 cash stayed with the students.

Andy and Julie voiced their appreciation when they wrote, “So I thought of you all today and also thought how great an opportunity the kids at Discovery Point have, with all of the learning, parental support, the wonderful amenities and teaching tools, the great teachers and staff, and especially (this is very important) in teaching the kids to help our local charities and non-profit organizations.”

We’d like to thank all of the passionate Discovery Point teachers who are helping and educating children around the world!
