The dedication and focus of our staff in caring for and educating the children in their care is such a vital part of what makes Discovery Point so special.

Hows King

Owner

Owner since 2008; on site daily and very involved in operations of the center; received a Engineering Degree from Duke University and an MBA from the University of Chicago; Mr. Hows is the past President of the Georgia Childcare Association and served on the Governor’s Early Education Steering Committee. He currently serves on the Advisory Council of Georgia’s Department of Early Care and Learning. He owns another Discovery Point in Cumming. Married for over 30 years, he is the father of three.

Amanda Maziarz

Classroom Director

Ms. Amanda earned a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Valdosta State University. She is a certified teacher and has over 12 years’ experience in Early Childhood Education. She previously taught Georgia Pre-K and STEM & Literacy enrichment classes. Amanda has a son that attends our summer camp program.

Karli Gulledge

Administrative Director

Ms. Karli has been in the child care field since 2003 and has been working with us since February 2014. She is currently working towards a degree in Integrated Studies. Karli is a native Georgian and enjoys working out and playing with her dog Widdles.

Carolina Munoz 

Special Projects Manager / Spanish Teacher

Ms. Carolina is originally from Argentina. There she studied marketing and administration for three years. She has been in the childcare field for over 17 years and holds her CDA Certification. She is a mother of two.

Haley Hurkmans

Infants Co Lead Teacher

Ms. Haley is from Loganville, Ga. She has been with Discovery Point since June 2012 and has a paraprofessional certification. Ms. Haley has two children, a school age son and a baby daughter. She loves working with babies!

Christina Labrador

Infants Co Lead Teacher

Ms. Tina is from Lakewood Ca. She has been working at Discovery Point since November 2013. She attended Auburn university and has worked with children since 2010. Ms. Tina has three school age children that attend Discovery Point in the afternoons and summer camp. She loves music and babies!

Valarie Gardner

Infants Assistant Teacher

Ms. Valarie is from McIntosh Alabama. She has been with Discovery Point since October 2017. Ms. Valarie has a loving husband, four beautiful children and grandchildren that she adores. She is very patient, kind and loving with babies.

Maria Cruz 

Lead Early Learner’s Teacher

Ms. Maria has a degree in Early Childhood Education. She has a passion for creating interactive and engaging activities that draw the children into the learning experience.

Mekia Cantrell

Early Learner’s Assistant Teacher

Ms. Kia has been working in Early Childhood Education since 2010 and with Discovery point since 2014. She is a mother of one.

Brittany Wilson

Toddlers Lead Teacher

Ms. Brittany has been working with children since 2011. She joined Discovery Point in 2018 and is pursuing a degree in early childhood education. She is a mother of two boys and one fur baby.

Farrah Gardner

Toddlers Assistant Teacher

Ms. Farrah has experience working with children of all ages for over five years and is a mother of two. She has been with Discovery Point since May 2017. Ms. Farrah is currently working on obtaining degrees in architecture and interior design.

Michelle Bishop

Lead Explorer’s Teacher

Ms. Michelle holds a Paraprofessional Certification and is currently enrolled at GGC for Special Education. She joined Discovery Point March 2017.

Carmen Harris

Explorers Assistant Teacher

Ms. Carmen holds an associates degree in early childhood education and has 6 previous years of experience as a preschool teacher.

Brianne Johnson

Lead Beginners Teacher

Ms. Brianne holds an associates degree in child development. She is currently enrolled in Ashford University working towards a degree in Early Childhood Education.

Jordan Marteny

Assistant Beginners Teacher

Ms. Jordan has worked in childcare since 2014. She loves playing softball and spending time with her family.

Gabriela Martinez

Achievers A Lead Teacher

Ms. Gabriela has been teaching for almost 30 years in various capacities from Head Start to Pre-K to elementary aged children. She has her CDA credential. She is fluent in Spanish and is the mother to 2 grown children. Mrs. Gabby was recently named a recipient of the Terri Lynn Lokoff National Teacher of the Year, which is an honor given to only 50 preschool teachers nationwide each year.

Kevione Moten

Lead Teacher Achievers

Child Studies from Louisiana Tech University. There, she volunteered her time at Early Childhood Centers, Boy and Girl Clubs, Special Olympics, etc. Ms. Kevione enjoys modeling, babysitting, volunteering at church and being with family. She has been with Discovery Point since June 2017

Maria Parry

Lead Accelerated Pre-K Teacher

Ms. Maria holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Art from McDaniel College. She has worked in the early childhood setting as a Private Pre-K teacher since 2003. Ms Maria is incredibly adept at sharing her passion for Early Literacy and STEM with her students.

Brooke Mays

Accelerated Pre-K Assistant Teacher

Ms. Brooke holds a paraprofessional certification and has been with Discovery Point since August 2009. She is very passionate about teaching through hand writing without tears and various creative methods.

Courtney Sexton

Lead Ga Pre-K Teacher

Ms. Courtney has a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Brenaw University. She has worked with children over 15 years. Ms. Courtney is passionate about working with the special needs population and her work as a behavioral therapist.

Cynella Alanis

Ga Pre-K Assistant Teacher

Ms. Cynella has working in early childhood education since 2011. She has a paraprofessional certification and is currently working towards a bachelor’s degree.

Jean Plumer

After School Lead Teacher and Art Enrichment

Ms. Jean has been with Discovery Point since November 2014. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education from Kennesaw State University. She loves sharing her passion for art and books with her students. Ms. Jean love every aspect of working with her school age students from helping with homework to joining them in group playground games.

Jennifer Trainer

Lead After School Teacher for Pre-K

Ms. Jen has been with Discovery Point since January 2012. She has previous experience working with children of all ages. She brings a lot of positive energy to our afterschool program. She is currently working on her Bachelors Degree.

Winter Williams

Cook 

Ms. Winter started at Discovery Point Suwanee in early 2017 as a float teacher. She showed an incredible affinity for cooking tasty and healthy meals that appeal to children of all ages.
