Summer Camp in Land-O-Lakes: Go for the Gold!

At Discovery Point Terra Bella, we are giving local children a chance to “Go for the Gold!” Our summer camp in Land-O-Lakes is a great way for school-aged children to spend their summer vacation. It’s ten weeks of fun, educational activities that will get them ready and excited for the next school year!

About Our 2020 Summer Camp in Land-O-Lakes

This year’s theme, “Go for the Gold” was inspired by the Summer Olympics. Our instructors will use this theme to inspire and encourage our young campers to build their confidence and learn perseverance when chasing their goals. Keep reading to see what we have in store for our summer camp!

One of the best parts about our summer program is all of the fun activities we have planned for our students. Here are some examples:

• Field trips to local sites
• Cooking projects
• Fun competitions
• Hands-on science experiments
• Physical fitness activities
• Educational talks from guest speakers
• Puzzles and games

The above activities actually tie directly into our educational lessons each week. Our instructors build different subjects and lessons into the activities as a way to help children better understand the concepts being covered. We like to focus on literacy and comprehension, which is why we have a different literature reading each week that ties into our lessons. To keep it well-rounded, we also incorporate science, history, drama, math, and art.

To tie our lessons and activities together, they will be based on a new unit each week. Introducing a new motif each week helps to keep children excited about learning. Some examples of this year’s units are the California Gold Rush, buried treasure, and Olympic gold medals, all tying into the main theme for our summer camp!
