About The Owners
After successful careers in the corporate world, Hong and Jan Chen were drawn to something new involving their passion for child development. Opening a Discovery Point Child Development Center was the perfect way to do so. Their two boys were their motivation towards this change. The youngest, Victor graduated from the Discovery Point Pre-K class in 2016. Both Felix and Victor still enjoy the center for aftercare and Track Out. The Chen’s international experiences have allowed them to appreciate and understand the diversity of culture and family background. They believe this is essential for a child’s unique development.
Hong was born and raised in China. She moved to Denmark and lived there for three years before moving to North Carolina. Jan was born and raised in Denmark. He has lived abroad twice – Venezuela for a year, and China for close to three years. Hong and Jan moved to the Heritage area in Wake Forest, North Carolina in 2009 where they now reside with their family. The Chens were extremely excited to be opening the first Discovery Point Child Development Center in North Carolina and believed that Heritage is the perfect community for a top-notch facility. Community involvement is very important to the Chens and they are excited to strengthen this community with a positive impact on children’s lives and education.
The Chen’s belief in the Discovery Point experience drove their decision to open and operate their own Discovery Point. Their goal is to make an impact on children in the early stages of their lives by creating a loving, educational, and nurturing environment.
