Healthy Meals and Snacks for Growing Children

undefined

As educators and parents, we know the importance of providing our children with fresh, healthy food. At Discovery Point Heritage, the meals and snacks we serve adhere to the highest standards of quality andnutrition. All of our fruits are fresh. Our full-time, on-site cook prepares warm, healthy breakfasts and lunches every day – many of them made from scratch. With the exception of canned beans, we do not use canned food.

Our kitchen is located in the middle of our center – similar to most homes. You can easily see and smell what is being cooked and talk with the cook e.g. to get the recipe for the food your child loved the day before!

Our cafeteria is a perfect setting for children 18 months and older to develop valuable social skills while enjoying their meals. Avoiding food in the classrooms further significantly improves hygiene and ensures the teachers can focus on the child and not cleaning up after meals.

As a sign of our commitment to healthy eating, we will also serve organic milk! Conventional milk often contains hormones, antibiotics, or pesticides – whereas organic milk offers:

  • Essential vitamins and nutrients
  • Heart-healthy fatty acids and higher protein content and it’s free from chemicals and preservatives!

In addition, when our Track-Out or Summer Camp children go on field trips, we prepare and provide healthy lunch packages.
