About Our 2020 Summer Camp in Flowery Branch

Our summer camp in Flowery Branch allows children to interact and learn alongside peers of the same age. At Discovery Point Oakwood, we value your child’s independence and self-development. Our teachers create an environment where students can learn and have fun, while also building key skills that will serve them in life.

Here are just some of the activities we incorporate into our camp:

• Cooking projects
• Science experiments
• Physical fitness activities and challenges
• Field trips to local attractions, museums, and parks
• Educational talks from guest speakers
• Fun competitions
• Puzzles, games, and riddles

To ensure our campers are learning during each of these activities, we build in a lot of educational lessons. We like to focus largely on literacy, and we accomplish this by planning our activities around weekly literature selections. However, we also include other subject areas, like science, math, history, drama, and art.

In our ten-week program, each week will hold a unique theme. From the California Gold Rush to the Olympic gold medals, we will be focusing on multiple “gold” units, all relating back to our overall “Go for the Gold” theme.

Aside from the fun activities and learning that your child will do over the summer, they will also benefit from the wisdom our teachers can impart. We help school-aged children develop a variety of qualities and skills that will serve them for years to come. Everything we have planned goes into the building of self-esteem, critical thinking skills, friendship, creativity, and independence.
