Summer Camp in Riverview: Go for the Gold!

At Discovery Point Symmes, we are taking this summer to “Go for the Gold!” Our summer camp gives school-aged children in Riverview an opportunity to have a memorable and fun-filled summer. With educational content and plenty of hands-on activities, we keep children engaged and excited to learn during our ten-week program.

About Our 2020 Summer Camp in Riverview

This year’s theme was born out of inspiration from the Summer Olympics. We will use this theme to deliver fun, educational, and inspirational content for our students. Our instructors hope to provide a well-rounded experience and create a medal-worthy summer!

All of our content and curriculum serves to impart lifelong skills and real-life experiences to the children in our community. Our “Go for the Gold” theme will help to inspire confidence and perseverance, while also teaching valuable social skills, creativity, and self-reliance.

A big concern for children during the summer months is that they may begin to regress on key skills while away from school. With our summer camp, we build tons of educational content into our weekly units in hopes of keeping our students on track with their learning. We focus on literature-rich content with weekly readings that relate back to our theme, and also include science, drama, art, and math concepts.

Most of our educational lessons are built into fun activities, keeping our students engaged and involved. Here are some of the activities we use:

• Cooking projects
• Fun competitions
• Physical fitness challenges
• Educational talks from guest speakers
• Science experiments
• Field trips to local sites
• Puzzles, games, and riddles
